THE RULES
All bouts will typically be head to head format, unless otherwise stipulated by the Commissioner of Broken Speech Xtreme.
Scoring - Three members of the audience will be selected to be ring judges for the entire night. At the end of each
round within a match the judges will score the poems based on a simple vote. The poet who receives the most votes at the
end of the round gains a pin. The poet who gains the most pins at the end of the match, wins.
Time Limits - Each round has a three minute time limit with a 10-second grace period. If a poet exceeds the time limit,
they lose the round based on Disqualification. If both poets exceed the time limit in a round, both poets are Disqualified
and the round is ruled a draw.
Duration of Matches
Exhibition Match - 3 rounds
Regular Matches & Championship Match - 5 rounds
Title Defenses
1. All title holders must defend once every 30 days. Titles that are not defended within that time period are vacated automatically.
2. Both the challenger and champion may add stipulations or modify the format of a match, to be approved by the BSX Commissioner.
3. Titles cannot change hands if the match ends in a draw or in a disqualification.
Performance Names - For the sake of BSX, we'd like for you to make up your own performance name (something you would
only use for BSX, not anywhere else. Trust us, it will enhance your enjoyment in Broken Speech Xtreme).
Who can participate? - Anyone! We welcome any and all newcomers to BSX.
