FEATURE GUIDELINES OR HOW CAN I FEATURE AT THE BROKEN SPEECH POETRY SLAM?

In the 6 years the Broken Speech Poetry Slam existed, we have had a small amount of features at our venue because we believe featuring only performers who excel in both writing and performing. Our short list of features include National Poetry Slam champion Danny Sherrard, National Poetry Slam Individual Finalists Al Letson, Crista Bell & Jamie Kilstein, NPS finalist John "Survivor" Blake, NPS semi-finalist ShadoKat, two time individual World Poetry Slam Champion & World Champion Buddy Wakefield, Slam Legends Tony Brown, Ryk McIntyre and Ray McNiece, NPS Semi Finalist Kate Makkai, and legendary West Coast Slammaster and organizer Charles Ellik. All of these individuals excel as writers and performers and we expect all potential features to work to achieve a balance in both those categories.

To request a feature at the Broken Speech Poetry Slam, please send an e-mail to slam@brokenspeech.com and include the following.

1. A brief bio (spelling and grammar count).

2. The date you wish to feature at the Broken Speech Poetry Slam. (Please make your request at least one month in advance, exceptions will be made if your work is amazing.)

3. 3-5 poems in text form (if you have a myspace page with text and audio, that's a bonus, but we prefer text version of your poems - again, spelling and grammar count).

You will receive a decision within 48 hours of receipt of your e-mail. If we agree to feature you, we expect for you...

1. To show up at least 90 minutes early before the slam begins.

2. To respect the venue and the audience.

3. To put on one hell of a show.

We pay $50 for features. We can also help you with accommodations and additional dates in Florida if necessary as well (there are other events throughout the week where you could do a whole week in Orlando).

If you are interested in featuring, please follow our submission guidelines and send your request to slam@brokenspeech.com. Thank you for your interest
